This is my first project of 2011.
This shawl took two weekends to complete. I was inspired by so many bloggers (Sheila) who are knitting and crocheting beautiful garments or accessories .
I bought the yarn because I love the colors chocolate brown and blue.My mom taught me to crochet when I was in the 7th grade. She taught me how to do a chain, single crochet, double crochet and the pineapple stitch. My first project was a skirt made out of cotton thread. I lost interest until my first year of college, I bought a book and taught myself everything else. The one thing I did not understand was gauge. I tend to do my own thing. Over the years I've made bedspreads, blankets, bathrobes and home dec item, however the time has come for me to learn about gauge. Here is my review:
Yarn: 5 Skeins of Red Heart acrylic medium weight #4
Needle: the pattern called for 5mm I used a 6-1/2(K)mm because the three rows where snug around my neck so I increase the size of the needle.
Color: Earth & Sky
Pattern: Have a heart shawl

I hope everyone had a great New Year Eve. Hubby and I attended a wedding last night in Long Island, New York. We did not attend the ceremony, instead went to the cocktail hour that started at 7pm. The traffic was light and it took 50 minutes from New Jersey to Woodbury , Long Island, N.Y. This wedding was a blast. It was a beautiful and enchanted affair. The bride's dress was sewn by a seamstress who lives in Brooklyn, NY. The construction of the gown and the details, including using silver metallic threads and large pieces of rhinestones embellishments was simply beautiful. The mother of the bride wore a goddess style gown adorned with gold rhinestones embellishments. This dress was also sewn by the same seamstress.
It was a lot of fun and a great way to bring in the New Year.
I will post a photo of the gown once I secure the bride's permission.
