End of the Year Post and 2012 Goals

I decided not to post an end of the year post, but after reading Jackie’s and Katie's  post I change my mind.
I am not going to concentrate on the number of garments because I did not sew many; I am going to focus on what I achieve this year.

The first  major achievement was sewing two dresses here and here that fit my body. It needs a little bit of tweaking, however I am happy with the fit.

The second major acievement was organizing my sewing space. My husband did a moving job and was able to bring home several cabinets. I put them in my sewing space and organize my fabric. What a difference those cabinets made, I can put my hands on every piece of fabric I own.

The third project I am happy about was for Chase. I also crocheted a blanket for him. Another project I did last year was a scrapbook that showcase my son. My son will be celebrating his eighteen birthday in Febuary. More about the scrapbook in 2012.

My goals for 2012 are the following:

1. Take a sewing class with Sharon to help me improve the fit of my dress patterns

2. Keep it simple- use My Stash
" buy I what I need" goal.  I accept the fact that I would never be able to sew all the fabrics I own. So this year I will only buy what I need, notions and linings. This does not mean that I may not buy fabric, I will only buy fabric if it is something I want to sew and none of the fabrics in my collection will do. Then in that case I will give away the same amount of fabric from my  stash. For every yard I buy this year I will give away the same amount of yardage from my stash, because I don't have the space to store any more fabrics or patterns. P.S I have not bought any fabric since July 2011.

3.  Keep better track of the fabric yardage that I use and document if it came from my stash.

4. Keep tract of the amount of time I dedicate to the art of sewing.

5. Crochet more items

6. Work on all the UFO in my sewing space.

7. More home dec projects this year.

8. The last and most important goal is to sew what I love.

More later..

You've had great accomplishments in 2011!

I'm always amazed at the precision that goes into garment fitting. I never really thought about it until I started reading your blog.

One of the things I love about your 2012 list is your intention to pass along fabric when you bring fabric in. It ends up being a resolution of giving. Love that!

Happy New Year!

It must feel so good to be in freshly a organized sewing space. I join in your fabric idea of not increasing my total stash by donating any fabric that I won't use if I do buy something new this year.
