Inspiration, First Project for 2012 and Back In The Sewing Game

Lucky magazine is one of my favorite magazines. The image below was in the August 2011 issue of Lucky magazine.
Below is a fabric that I had in my collection. It has pink. black & white. The fabric is a home dec fabric 54-inches wide. I had 1-3/4 yd.
.

The result was a simple and elegant skirt. .I pair it with a black turtleneck sweater that has ruching on the sleeve with a black belt and some pretty suede ankle boots.

I wore this to work today with the pink belt.

Here is pic of my pretty suede ankle boots. Stay tune, I plan to change this look in the spring by adding a white jacket or shrug with a sleeveless black T-shirt and white shoes, this look will be closer to the inspiration photo. As part of my 2012 sewing goal is to improve my sewing skills. As far as techniques goes the skirt is fully lined. I treated the lining and the fabric as one. Date Night

Last night was date night. My husband and I went to the Beacon Theater in New York City to a pre-valentine day concert with the Delphonics, Cuba Gooding,Sr ( the only surviving member of the 70's group the Main Ingredient)and other groups. The stars of the show was the magnificient "STYLISTICS". The STYLISTICS are truly entertainers, the concert was magnificient. The sang all the songs that I grew up listening to as a teenager growing up in the 70's.

This a pic of the interior of the Beacon Theater. It is a beautiful old theater that was remodel.
As you can see I take date night very serious, and just like Ericka I get casual but fancy and after being married for 32-years I am blessed this morning to have a wonderful family, beautiful children and a great husband.
As I listen to the sad new regarding the great WHITNEY HOUSTON I am devastated and truly sad. May God bless her and give her family the strength to get through the difficult days ahead. R.I.P. Whitney.
