Lucky magazine is one of my favorite magazines. The image below was in the August 2011 issue of Lucky magazine.
Below is a fabric that I had in my collection. It has pink. black & white. The fabric is a home dec fabric 54-inches wide. I had 1-3/4 yd.

.I pair it with a black turtleneck sweater that has ruching on the sleeve with a black belt and some pretty suede ankle boots.

Stay tune, I plan to change this look in the spring by adding a white jacket or shrug with a sleeveless black T-shirt and white shoes, this look will be closer to the inspiration photo.
As part of my 2012 sewing goal is to improve my sewing skills. As far as techniques goes the skirt is fully lined. I treated the lining and the fabric as one. It has a centered zipper and bias binding use at the waist, it does not have a waistband. The skirt was hand basted including all grain lines sewing lines and hemlines. I also bought a DVD from the esewing workshop.com. More about that in my next post. After watching the video I hand baste the hemline and I learned to hem the skirt by hand and not have stitch show on the front of the skirt.

You look fabulous in your new skirt! And I like that you plan on changing it up for spring/summer!
Nice skirt with lots of combination possibilities.
Beautiful skirt - it looks like it fits you well and the hemline is really straight. I love the wood details in your home, they're gorgeoug!
The print of your skirt looks rather like-gems, or mosaic tiles maybe. Very pretty. Great boots!
Thanks you ladies for your kind comments.
Carolyn changing it up for spring/summer will bring in it in line with the goals I set for 2012
Jackie, it fits like a glove and although its a simple skirt I use a few techniques that I will write about in my next post.
